Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge – Day One

I was invited by Calen of Impromptu Promptlings to participate in this challenge. Today is Day One.

The Ingredients for Happiness

Ice cream

Sheldon Cooper of The Big Bang Theory once say, “50% of marriages end in divorce, but 100% of ice cream bars end in happiness!” He was trying to convince his friend Howard to have an ice cream bar at Howard and Bernadette’s wedding reception.

Personally, I agree that 100% of ice cream bars end in happiness. Even those of us with lactose intolerance can take a Lactaid and participate! My own favorite make-you-own sundae was inspired by Friendly’s. I ALWAYS get the Reese’s Pieces Sundae (without the marshmallow sauce or cherry). My friends and I frequented Friendly’s all during college and beyond. I discovered I could make the basic sundae at home – all I needed was ice cream, chocolate sauce, peanut butter (PB), and a microwave. I put a scoop of PB in a glass measuring cup, microwave it for 30 seconds, and voilà! Melted PB! (Note: If you try this at home, be sure you don’t over-heat the PB; burned PB smells awful.) I pour it over the ice cream (I personally like vanilla bean) and spoon out any remaining PB. The dog even gets to partake – she licks the measuring cup clean. Then I add the chocolate sauce, and – heaven! And, it’s got protein, so (theoretically) it could stand alone as a meal! Yum yum!

The Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge rules require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo.  It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph – it’s entirely up to you.

Then each day, nominate another blogger to carry on this challenge.

Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command.  Today, I’m inviting Nuggets of Gold to join the challenge.

(Actually, anyone can join in, so please do.)
