About Me

Writing fiction and nonfiction since time began (well, my time!).

I’m in my 40s and live in the northeastern United States. I am an editor, but I love writing, animals, reading, cooking, and watching geeky shows and movies. I also like the outdoors. I created this website specifically to follow The Daily Post’s (http://dailypost.wordpress.com) blogging and writing challenges.

  1. An editor that loves writing? No way! LOL How envious am I of you getting to work in the field. I’m a desk jockey by day living in New England, and would sell my soul to work in this creative field! It must be wonderful…what type of material do you edit? How did you get into that field? How did you find that sort of opportunity? So ready to make that kind of career jump!

    • Haha! Actually, I work for an academic publisher, and we were just bought out by another company, so I’ll be losing my job by November 1. It was quite by accident that I began working for a publisher, but I loved working with the books. You’d be better off doing freelance – taking classes in copyediting and such, and joining some publishing- or writing-related websites.

  2. Sorry to hear about November 1st looming ahead, that must be discouraging. But your experience will definitely take you forward. As for classes, I’m considering a return to school. And if you have some leads on those websites, please let me know… themainemama03901@gmail.com. I’m all ears my friend!! Thank you for the message! 🙂

    • I’m pretty sure New York University has classes in publishing, and some of those classes are online. It would be expensive, but it would be exactly what you’re looking for. The website MediaBistro also offers classes that are cheap, but I think the NYU classes are more in detail. I hope this helps!

  3. Hi Crazy in Catmint!
I’ve been perusing your lovely blog and wanted to say congratulations, I have nominated your blog for a Liebster Award! The Liebster Award is a fun way to recognize some of the awesome posts fellow bloggers (like you) are publishing. The award comes with a tradition of sharing a few things about yourself and spreading the love to other bloggers. You can check out what was passed onto me here:

  4. Hey Miss Catmint!

I’m inviting you to join in the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge. It’s just another way to get some needed exposure for our blogs. You are my day four person.

All you need to do is choose one random image each day and write a story about it. You can write fiction, non-fiction or a paragraph or merely a line describing your view behind choosing that image for the day. The picture does not have to be one that you’ve taken. Please include a “thanks” and pingback to my site. And the instructions listed at the bottom of the blog post.

Then nominate one blogger everyday to keep the challenge going.

I’ll understand if you’ve got too much on your plate, but wanted to invite you anyway. It’s kind of short and fun.

    Impromptu Promptlings…
